The temperature might be getting cooler, but at For the Many, our campaigns are heating up! We’ve spent the summer talking to our neighbors around the Hudson Valley about our campaigns to take over Central Hudson and stop New York from helping ICE. Now we’re getting ready to throw down for the general election in November.

In East Fishkill, our Political Coordinator Brooklyn spoke at State Senator Kristen Gonzalez’s New York Fights AI Data Centers tour explaining how a statewide data center moratorium will stop our electric bills from continuing to skyrocket. We need the Governor to sign the Responsible Data Center Development Act to keep our water, farmers, and communities safe from this energy-sucking, climate-destroying industry. Call Governor Hochul at (518) 474-8390 and tell her to sign the bill today.
Over in Newburgh, our Orange County Organizer Shelby shared information about efforts to get rid of Flock AI surveillance cameras. These shady surveillance tools are a potential source of data for ICE, which means they make all of us less safe.
Last weekend, we hosted campaign kickoff events in Poughkeepsie and Newburgh to elect Lisa Kaul to the State Senate!
Lisa Kaul is a Dutchess County legislator, parent, and immigrant who is running for State Senate because she gets the issues we’re facing. She knows the only way to address the affordability crisis is by fighting for laws that will lower the cost of housing, utilities, and healthcare for the long-term.
We’re fighting to elect Lisa because we need to pass laws that improve life for millions of New Yorkers, and we do that by electing champions like her who will fight for them in office.
It’s going to take all hands on deck to elect Lisa this November. Last cycle, the Democratic candidate lost to the Republican by only 2,000 votes – so we need to turn out that many people to vote this year!
We’re launching canvasses in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie in the coming weeks to talk to our neighbors about Lisa and our campaign to take over Central Hudson. We’ll hear from Lisa directly and then head out to knock doors in pairs.
