Kingston mayor signs municipal ID card legislation
Ignacio Acevedo, a lead organizer with the immigrant rights group Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson, said the cards will help residents who lack other forms of identification.
“It’s created the safety net that we were looking for,” he said.
City lawmakers say the law will allow residents who don’t have other forms of ID to be able to identity themselves to schools when dealing their children, as well as to police when reporting a crime.
