Kingston Implements Short Term Rental Regulations

Thanks to pressure from our members as part of our Homes Are Not Hotels campaign, the city of Kingston passed a zoning code that caps the number of vacation rentals (non-owner occupied short-term rentals, like Airbns) to 1% of the city’s housing units. The new regulations also require short-term rental owners to register their units, pay a fee, and have their units inspected before they will be issued a permit. Property owners operating unlicensed short-term rentals will be issued significant fines.

We’re excited by this progress and will continue to push Kingston, Newburgh, and Poughkeepsie to enact a total ban on vacation rentals owned by absentee investors.

WHO WE ARE

COMING TOGETHER TO TRANSFORM NEW YORK.

For too long, greedy corporations, billionaires, and political elites have used their wealth and power to rig our country against us. We’re fighting to put power back in our hands.
