But in a statement, For the Many and the tenants union said there are too many unanswered questions about the agreement.
“While we welcome any guarantee of long-term affordability and maintenance funding, we have many concerns about this plan,” the two groups said in a joint statement. “There is uncertainty about (whether) the Emergency Tenant Protection Act will cover future tenants. The regulatory agreement’s rent cap of 120% of AMI is too high, and restricting the time period for affordability is unacceptable.
“Any agreement must give tenants the power to hire and fire management, review financial and maintenance records, and have representation on any nonprofit created to serve or manage Stony Run,” the statement added.
“We demand that the Kingston Common Council delay its March 7th vote authorizing the mayor to create and sign a regulatory agreement,” the statement said. “Any plan for Stony Run’s future must be created in coordination with, and have the full consent of, the Tenants’ Union.”
