Build Public Renewables Act

The Build Public Renewables Act is a massive victory for the U.S. climate movement.  The BPRA’s passage is a first step towards meeting our climate goals and lowering New Yorkers’ utility bills. The law  also mandates that the state build renewable energy projects with gold-standard labor language written by the AFL-CIO.It’s the new national model for climate policy, showing we can have a publicly-owned system accountable to us, not profit-motivated shareholders.

We’re proud to have played a role in this victory as longtime members of the Public Power coalition and as early supporters of climate champion Sarahana Shrestha’s Assembly campaign.
