March 2026 Newsletter
While Trump is using taxpayer dollars to bomb Iran, his federal funding cuts are leaving a $12.5 billion gap in New York’s state budget. Politicians want us to believe this means there isn’t enough money for services that millions of us rely on—that we have to make false choices between things we need.
But the real choice is for Albany lawmakers:
Are they going to keep siding with billionaires and corporations, or are they going to stand up for everyday New Yorkers and tax the rich?
From a massive day of action at the Capitol to town halls to weekly canvasses, we’ve been making sure lawmakers know there’s only one right answer. State budget negotiations are ramping up ahead of the April 1 deadline, so this is the time when priorities like taxing the rich and the New York for All Act either move forward or get pushed aside.
So much is possible right now—but only if we fight for it.
March is already shaping up to be a big month with tons of opportunities to join the fight. Whether you’re at every weekly phonebank or you’ve never taken action with us, this month is a *great* time to get involved. Below are a few updates and ways to plug in. We’ll see you at an action soon ✊

This week we brought over 150 people from the Hudson Valley to be part of a historic day of action in Albany, joining more than 1,000 New Yorkers from across the state to demand that lawmakers tax the rich, stop helping ICE, and make polluters pay.
Huge days like this send a powerful message—but if we want to get these priorities in the budget, state leaders need to keep hearing from us.
Join our 30-minute phone zap TODAY, March 12 at 6pm on Zoom to make some quick calls to our state leaders and make sure New York stands up for immigrants. A few calls go a long way, so join us while you can!

One of the most important things we can do right now is talk to our neighbors and bring more people into the fight. So that’s what we do at our weekly canvass shifts and phonebanks!
Come knock doors or make calls with us to build support for taxing the rich, protecting immigrant New Yorkers, housing we can afford, and more. Don’t worry if you’ve never canvassed or phonebanked before—we’ll train you!

We know all of our priorities aren’t going to make it into the budget. That’s why we’re already planning our next big action in Albany on Tuesday, May 5 to demand that lawmakers take bold action on housing and make rent affordable.
We’re fighting to pass a bill that would let more towns & cities have rent stabilization, which would make it possible to freeze rent upstate. Help us keep the pressure on so we can afford our homes!

The state budget isn’t the only thing we’re focused on: we’re also organizing to bring fare-free buses to Dutchess County!
Community members turned out this week to tell county legislators that public transit should be accessible, affordable, and available to all Dutchess residents who need it. We’re expecting a vote next month and need people to show up, so save the date!

Last month we hosted some of our biggest community meetings yet, along with two huge town halls with elected leaders. Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha, State Senator Michelle Hinchey, and Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado joined us to hear from members and talk about the affordability crisis, ICE’s terror campaign, and what Albany needs to do about it.
We’ll have updates on all of these campaigns and new opportunities to get involved at our next monthly community meetings on March 26—join us!
