AN ECONOMY FOR THE MANY

In 2016,  New York was one of the first states to commit to a $15 minimum wage. But the cost of rent and groceries is rising at the fastest rate in 40 years, and the upstate minimum wage is still only $14.20.

PROMOTING RACIAL AND GENDER EQUITY

Women and people of color are overrepresented in low-wage occupations – 33% of Black New Yorkers make minimum wage. Raising and tying  New York’s minimum wage to inflation would benefit  all underpaid New Yorkers and contributes to our state’s progress to achieve greater racial and gender equity.

CLOSING THE WEALTH GAP

New York State has the highest concentration of wealth in the US and the largest gap between rich and poor. Workers deserve their fair share. By raising the minimum wage, New York can help more families thrive.

STRONG BIPARTISAN SUPPORT

80% of New York voters, including 65% of Republicans, support raising the state minimum wage to $21.25 by 2027 and indexing it to cost of living and productivity. And 89% of voters in the Hudson Valley support the bill,  the highest percentage of any region in the state.
