Student Organizer

Location: Vassar College Campus, Marist College Campus, New Paltz Campus, OR Bard College Campus
Description: For the Many has a large existing student base to mobilize. There are also thousands of students at schools in the Hudson Valley and upstate New York that we hope to connect with our work! Student organizing interns will work to engage and expand our student base.
Shifts/time commitment: 4 hour weekly commitment — 2 hr meeting, ~2 hrs independent work
Key tasks/skills developed:
- Canvassing/Tabling, talking to students on campus about our campaigns, recruiting potential volunteers and members
- Phonebanking, calling students to talk to them about our campaigns, recruiting potential volunteers and members
- Familiarity with digital organizing tools, including EveryAction, scaletowin, Mailmerge, Airtable
- Volunteer Engagement, having 1-1 conversations with volunteers to develop their relationship with the organization
- Relational Organizing, organizing your own networks to take action for progressive issue and electoral campaigns in NY
- Event Planning, writing agendas, creating sign up sheets, using mobilize, facilitating meetings

- Facilitation, facilitating class and organizational visits on campus to share our work and how folks can get involved
- Data Management, getting trained in and utilizing EveryAction (CRM) and Airtable to manage contact data
- Research, conducting research on non-local schools
- Digital Canvassing, using social media to engage and canvass non-local contacts
