Ryan Sharpe

Ryan’s motivation comes from serving others who may feel they have been ignored or abandoned. Ryan is an incumbent Democratic Party  candidate for Town Board  in the Town of Poughkeepsie where he has served for the last 22 months.

Ryan is accustomed to doing things that are frustrating, demanding, and often exhilarating: an attorney for twenty years, he works in the Dutchess County Public Defender’s office, where he provides advocacy for individuals in Family Court and Criminal Court proceedings while helping  them navigate systems that are unfamiliar.

Ryan advocated for Good Cause Eviction to be adopted in the Town Code and supports initiatives that increase equitable access to housing. Ryan also voted in support of modernizing the town’s energy grid, integrating more green power and improving local air quality by taking a proactive stance on environmental and economic sustainability by voting in support of allowing battery energy storage systems pursuant to the Town Code in the Town of Poughkeepsie
