More than we can imagine
Over the past month, hundreds of members and volunteers have come together to talk to thousands of people about the issues most deeply impacting them, about the importance of voting and participating in the census, and about the need to collectively resource our movements for social change.
The results are far beyond what we could imagine achieving in isolation — they are a testament to the power of collective action. They are a reminder that when we fight together, we can win! Read about what we’ve done together over the past month.
In less than four months, we registered a total of 1,722 voters. And then, we made 12,233 calls, sent 21,990 texts, and knocked on 768 doors.
184 volunteers and interns joined us through rain and heatwaves to make these incredible results possible in only our second year of our voter organizing project.
Looking forward to 2020, we’re excited to have an even more meaningful impact on elections as we push back against the rising tide of white supremacy and advance our vision of justice, safety, and dignity for all of us.
Over the past month, 74 volunteers have collected 874 surveys from Kingston, Middletown, Newburgh, and Poughkeepsie.
Through the survey project, we’re developing our members’ organizing skills while getting a clear sense of the most urgent issues facing our communities and connecting with hundreds of people hungry for action!

We had an energizing series of member meetings this month! We trained over 40 people at our Poughkeepsie Member Meeting in knowing our rights and preparing for ICE activity. We organized over 70 people at our Newburgh Member Meeting to plug into our survey project. And close to 120 people joined us across a series of solidarity meetings from SUNY New Paltz to Kingston to an online gathering!
We wrapped up the month with over 100 people at our Day of the Dead celebration where we educated members on the importance of the 2020 census with Planned Parenthood and the Newburgh Counts committee!
We’ve started recruiting volunteers for our winter fundraising drive, where we’ll try to raise $200,000 in one week starting on Giving Tuesday! This fundraising drive will dramatically impact what we are able to do in 2020 — from influencing critical elections to taking on the issues that matter the most to our members to expanding our staff and offices.
We already have 82 fundraising team members who have signed up to ask their friends and family to donate in that week.
