Kingston lawmakers urged to back state housing bills

“Addressing the housing crisis requires bold solutions,” Jenna Goldstein, Ulster County Community Organizer at For the Many, said in a separate press release. “The City of Kingston has made history by being the first Upstate municipality to opt into rent stabilization (and the first to win a historic rent reduction!), but now we need to pass the REST Act to protect and expand rent stabilization. With this law, more municipalities will be able to opt in, more tenants will be covered, and renters will be afforded these crucial protections to demand lower rents and needed repairs.”
