For the Many hosts first ‘Build the Block Party’ in Kingston

KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Hudson Valley grassroots organization For the Many hosted its inaugural “Build the Block Party” in the city on Saturday, April 27, urging locals to get out and organize.

The block party, held at the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County, saw speeches from local organizers as well as Assembly member Sarahana Shrestha, D-Esopus, and city Alderperson Michele Hirsch, D-Ward 9.

“We really wanted to bring the community together and give an opportunity for people to connect, while recognizing that it’s been really hard lately and people have been feeling a lot of ambient political despair,” said Jenny Kutner, communications lead at For the Many. “It’s really a recognition that coming together is the only way we’re going to build power, and we should get to feel good when we do that because everything else feels pretty bad right now.”

WHO WE ARE

COMING TOGETHER TO TRANSFORM NEW YORK.

For too long, greedy corporations, billionaires, and political elites have used their wealth and power to rig our country against us. We’re fighting to put power back in our hands.
