Distributed Organizing Intern
Background
For the Many has a large non-local base to mobilize. There are thousands of people outside of the Hudson Valley, in New York and beyond, that we hope to connect with our work! Distributed organizing interns will work to engage and expand our non-local base.
Minimum shifts & time commitment:
- One 2-3 hr shift each week, 1+ hrs of independent work
Location:
- Remote (zoom)
Key tasks/skills developed:
- Phonebanking, calling non-local organizational contacts to talk to them about our campaigns, recruiting potential volunteers and members
- Familiarity with digital organizing tools, including EveryAction, scaletowin, Mailmerge, Airtable
- Volunteer Engagement, having 1-1 conversations with volunteers to develop their relationship with the organization
- Relational Organizing, organizing your own networks to take action for progressive issue and electoral campaigns in NY
- Understanding the political process and issue campaigns, receive first hand experience discussing the political process, strategy and tactics used in issue and electoral campaigns at the local and state level

- Event Planning, writing agendas, creating sign up sheets, using mobilize, facilitating meetings
- Data Management, getting trained in and utilizing EveryAction (CRM) and Airtable to manage contact data
- Facilitation, facilitating meetings or phonebank shifts for online volunteers

- Digital Canvassing, using social media to engage and canvass supporters
