Paid Canvasser
For the Many Action is a grassroots organization building a movement of everyday people to transform New York so it works for all of us. For too long, greedy corporations, billionaires, and political elites have rigged our country to work against us. That’s why we’ve endorsed Sarahana Shrestha, a community organizer running for State Assembly on healthcare for all, housing for all, and bold climate action.
As a paid canvasser with For the Many, you will get to talk to community members about Sarahana and the issues affecting everyday New Yorkers. Compensation is $18 an hour, with gas money also available. Hours are flexible, but must be at least 15 hours per week. Canvassing will happen on weekends and between 4-8 on weekdays as that is when people are home. We are based out of Kingston, NY and New Paltz, NY, so you must be able to get to one of those locations. Lastly, this job will end on 6/29, the day after the primary election.
Responsibilities:
- Door knocking in targeted neighborhoods in Ulster County to talk to voters about the upcoming election
- Engaging community members in conversation about the issues impacting them and their families
- Sharing personal stories about key issues to connect with the experiences of those we talk to
- Correctly and completely tracking data from conversations we have on the doors
Experiences & Skill Requirements:
- Alignment with For the Many’s mission and values
- Prior canvassing experience, paid or as a volunteer, preferred
- Must be able to walk/stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to learn and effectively communicate talking points about key issues
- COVID-19 vaccinations are required

- Familiarity with Ulster County and/or Hudson Valley political landscape
- Bilingual in Spanish/English
